Changes to Pardon’s in Canada
Since the passage of Bill C-23B, Pardon’s application has been referred to as a criminal record suspension.
Several other amendments have been made to the Criminal Records Act, including waiting times before the possibility of applying. The latter went from 3 to 5 years for summary offenses, and from 7 to 10 years for the chiefs by indictment. It should be noted that some offenses are no longer forgivable (homicide, some sexual offenses …), are no longer eligible individuals with more than three counts by indicted.
